Mitsva’s books and documents on the memory of evacuation
“Evacuation to Kazakhstan” brought together memoirs and facsimiles of archival documents. Mitsva’s historical collection also includes other publications about the country’s Jews.

In 2007, the Mitsva Association and Kazakhstan’s Central State Archive began working together on material about the evacuation of Jews to Kazakhstan during the Second World War. The book “Evacuation to Kazakhstan” was published in 2008. It included essays, memoirs and facsimiles of archival documents. 1

I. E. Grinberg is named as the compiler. The book’s page also lists G. Karatayeva and I. Kropivnitsky. The publication includes facsimiles of letters and applications written by evacuees. 1
Other Mitsva publications
The historical collection includes Isaac Grinberg’s book “Jews in Alma-Ata”, published in 2005. In 2006, Nina Krutova’s two-part study “Jews in the Land of Eastern Kazakhstan” was published in Ust-Kamenogorsk, covering the period from the early eighteenth century to the twenty-first. The same collection includes a photographic album of Jewish gravestones in Eastern Kazakhstan bearing dates from 1886–1922. 1
