Boris Avrukh was born in Karaganda in 1978. In 1990, he became the world champion in the boys’ under-twelve category. This achievement belongs to the early part of his life, before he later lived in Israel.
After moving, Avrukh became Israeli champion twice and played for the national team. At the 2008 Chess Olympiad in Dresden, he was part of the team that won silver medals.
Another part of his work involves sharing experience. The two volumes of his opening guide “Grandmaster Repertoire – 1.d4” appeared in 2008 and 2010. Preparation for his own games became material other chess players could use.
