In 1926, Meer Braslavsky was sentenced to three years of exile in Kazakhstan for his involvement in the Zionist Socialist Party. In Bolshenarymsk, he met his future wife, Edya Zilbergerz, who had also been exiled for activities in that party.

Following petitions, the couple were allowed to leave for Palestine. They arrived in Jaffa in December 1928. Meer worked as a chemical engineer, took part in building a power station in Naharayim and then worked in Sdom. Later, he headed a metalworking workshop at Kibbutz Ashdot Yaakov.
