Letters from Kyiv to Kazakhstan
Rozalia London and her son were evacuated from Kyiv to Kazakhstan, where she continued corresponding with relatives who had stayed in the city.

In the summer of 1941, Rozalia London and her son Felix were evacuated from Kyiv. About a month later, they arrived in Aktyubinsk. Rozalia corresponded with relatives who had stayed in Kyiv.
At the end of 1941, Rozalia, Felix and his grandmother Anna moved to Kostanay. Rozalia worked, Felix went to school, and Anna looked after him while his mother travelled for work.
In September 1941, Rozalia’s parents and her sister Berta were murdered at Babyn Yar. Her brother Emmanuel was later murdered there as well. In January 1944, Rozalia received a postcard from a neighbour in Kyiv telling her what had happened to the family.
In 1943, Rozalia, Felix and Anna returned to Ukraine, first to Kharkiv. In 1944, they moved to Kyiv. In 1991, Felix and his family, along with Rozalia, left for Israel. In 2017, Felix donated family photographs and documents to Yad Vashem.
